Blog Tag – I’m It

As a child, I was one of the slowest runners in my class. I was always chosen last for sports, I was perpetually it when we played tag, and I never stopped calling “Marco” in the pool. I was excellent at many other things, but sports wasn’t my forte. When my best friend The Literary Tiger tagged me for a round of Blog Tag, I immediately remembered my childhood.

So in memory of my childhood, I’ll be perpetually “it.”

The Rules:

1. I must post the rules.
2. I must answer the questions the tagger listed for me. (Thanks Literary Tiger)
3. I must create or reuse 11 questions for those I tag.  (See below)
4. I must tag 11 people. (It could be any of you . . . .)
5. I must let them know they’ve been tagged.  (My footmen will be sending out announcements presently)

6. Not that it’s necessary, but please refer to rule number 1 to see why I struck out rules 3-5.

1. What do you want to be when you grow up?

Do I really have to grow up? I’ve found life very fulfilling talking for a living, and being a mom. (I’m a radio DJ) If I had to get a Master’s degree in something, I’m interested in studying marketing.

2. What is your favorite thing to spend money on?

The easiest things to spend money on are cosmetics and jewelry. I don’t even think about it anymore. I also enjoy stocking my kitchen with beautiful serving ware and dishes. I entertain a lot, so keeping my kitchen up to date is important to me. I can’t stand chipped dishes or mismatched serving ware.

3. What time of day do you read/write the most?

Evenings are the best time for me. When my 2 and 4-year-old girls are in bed I can finally sit down and read or blog without distraction.

4. When you’ve had a hard or a bad day, what makes you feel better?

Escapism behavior. Watching a movie while in a bath with a cup of tea. Having a laugh with my best friend over the phone and talking about what we’d do if we ever won the lottery. Reading a fashion magazine cover to cover. Painting my nails and watching a favorite TV show. Something that completely takes my mind off my bad day.

5. If you could own any kind of creature (mythical or not) what would it be?

An elephant. I’ve loved elephants since I was a kid, and I still think they are amazing. Of course my elephant would come with a huge piece of land for it to roam on, and a keeper to pick up it’s amazingly huge poop. I’d help take care of it, but I don’t want to do poop patrol all by myself.

6. Are you an extrovert or introvert?

My job as a DJ has helped me to overcome my extreme shyness. I enjoy being around people and I am very social, but at the end of the day I’m exhausted. So officially I’m an introvert.

7. If you could be anybody for just a day, who would it be and why?

I would be Elizabeth I of England. As the daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn she was caught in the middle. Not a male heir, not the oldest child, the offspring of a very unpopular queen. In her youth before she became queen, she learned to be what others wanted her to be. She was a survivor. After she was crowned, she found a way to rule a country alone without a man. Something unexpected in her day. She was witty, daring, strong-willed, and exceedingly smart.  I think I could learn a lot from a woman like that.

8. If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

If I was being altruistic, I would say something like “the ability to help solve all the world’s conflicts.” Truthfully, every time I’m dreaming and I have a superpower, its always flying. Apparently my subconscious knows something I don’t.

9. What’s your favorite Olympic event?

Gymnastics.

10. What were your best and worst subjects at school?

I was great in English and History, worst in Math and Physics.

11. What’s one thing you want to learn before you die (e.g. a musical instrument, a language, how to perform brain surgery, e.t.c.)?

I want to learn how to draw. I can sketch a few easy things, but nothing elaborate. I’d love to be able to draw something or someone recognizable.

    • Thanks. Your Anne Boleyn answer sent me into a whole English history tail spin last night. I’m back to learning more about their monarchy. Time to learn more about before and after my favorite Tudors.
